A serial online shopper dater, Sophie is the despair of her friends and family as she haplessly flits from one guy to another - until they either ‘ruin it by trying to get serious’ and scare her off or fail disastrously on the first date.
Staying Single is the tale of Sophie Regan’s struggle with commitment.
Sophie is a modern, independent young woman who loves the chase but hates the catch. Behind her ballsy façade Sophie is a hopeless romantic and an avid Doris Day fan, believing she was the original independent woman before the likes of Bridget Jones (and her diary) and Carrie Bradshaw.
Staying Single explores the state of permanent temporariness that social media and online dating has brought to the domain of modern romance and the perpetual ‘grass is greener’ suggestion that there’s always someone ‘better’ just around the corner in the world of online dating.
It’s a story about relationship dynamics in our social media driven world as Sophie juggles her exciting and busy work life with her disastrous love life and constant interference from her Mom. Hopelessly romantic and yet feisty, Jessie finds herself on a quest to prove her friends wrong when they label her a 'pleaser' and to prove to herself that she's not turning into a commitment-phobe. Aware that she's the ultimate cliche - a commitment-phobe who can't say no - she embarks on her quest, only to be suddenly surrounded by a series of guys who, collectively, tick all of her boxes.
